 CAN ROACHES BITE HUMANS?

Years ago while working on treating a roach infested trailer, I inquired from the owner what initiated the phone call to BUGkiL Pest Control for our services. She stated that she had taken her youngest daughter to the Dr. because she had woken up with minor blushes of red over her arms, legs and face. At the Dr.’s appointment, the first words out of the Dr.’s mouth were, “Do you have roaches in your home?” She answered that she did. The doctor urgently recommended that she get the problem treated, “IMMEDIATELY!” The blushes on her daughter’s skin where due to roaches biting her daughter while she was sleeping. I was intrigued by this, which push me to do the research to better prevent this from happening to other children.

YES! German cockroach and American cockroach can bite humans.

Here is a little insight from BUGkiL Pest Control. Besides from German Cockroaches walking all over cooking surfaces and kitchen utensils leaving a residual trail of bacteria and allergens behind them, which cause serious allergies and health problems in humans, these nasty roaches can bite people.

Roaches bite you because the fact is, they are Omnivores- they eat just about anything. They have been known to eat human flesh. You’ll be more likely to see bites on feet, hands, finger nails, eyelashes and around the mouth area. YUCK!

What roaches are known to bite humans?

Species of cockroaches found in Texas that are most known for their biting addiction.

  • Periplaneta America (Also known as American cockroach that are found throughout your home)

What do I Do?

Most people see roaches in their home, their first instinct is to thoroughly clean their home. That might help a little bit, but will not help at all when there is a HUGE infestation of roaches. Cleaning alone without treating the roach problem/ infestation WILL NOT solve the problem. Hiring a professional pest control company. BUGkiL Pest Control is your solution!
